Xander de Boer is an Amsterdam-based documentary filmmaker, dramaturg, podcast maker and mediator. He works at the intersection of documentary, dance, theatre and visual art driven by imagination, archive and social engagement.

With a background in Theatre, Film and Television Studies and Documentary and Dramaturgy he has made several documentaries and series for NTR, BNNVARA and KRO-NCRV, screened at national and international festivals. In 2013 his work received the IDFA Script Prize.

Since 2025 he also works as a mediator, bringing the same attention to listening and nuance that defines his documentary practice.

He is a founding member of SXS Enterprise, an international performance collective with musician Steven Heather and artist Siegmar Zacharias, based in Amsterdam, Berlin and Melbourne.

With narrative podcast, Xander deepens his research into intimacy, layering and imagination using audio as a space for voices and subjects under pressure in contemporary society.
